Last Sunday I was awarded the IPPVA (Irish Professional Photographer and Videographer Association) Chairman's Award for the best single image of the 2022 Awards Program.
This is one of my favourites images that I ever created and I thought I'd share a little bit of the story behind it.
When the first Covid-19 lockdown hit, around easter 2020, my daughter was 8 months old.
Every time the coronavirus ad was on TV, she would stop whatever she was doing to watch it.
I really wanted to capture that.
One day I waited until evening time to have the nice sunlight entering our living room, I sat her down on the floor with her toys and waited for the ad to come on.
When it did, I gently put the bunny ears on her, (luckily she didn't notice it or she would have taken them off right away) and then I got this photo.
The “Life is good” bunting on the wall was a constant reminder that lockdown was just a temporary state and that there was much more to life and to look forward to.
This is such an huge achievement and I am beyond thrilled!
