Lifestyle newborn photography is all about capturing the first weeks of your precious little baby and showing the connection and love between the family members.
Babies grow and change really fast, it is so important to have the memories of those first moments, the first interactions, the way your newborn baby looks at you and fills your heart with love and joy, the way you feel so important when they only stop crying when you pick them up, the way you like to watch them sleep, the way you cried when grandma and grandpa met them the first time... all those moments will become memories one day, and the photographs will help you remember and tell the story of your family in the future!
To have a newborn session at home is a great way of also making the memories of your home, the baby's nursery will change very soon when they are too big to sleep in the cot, you might want to do some renovations around the house and get new furniture. In the future, you will be able to show your little one(s) how everything used to be, thanks to their newborn photos. Also, you don't have to pack a newborn bag and go anywhere, your photographer will come to you!
You might be wondering when is the best time to have your newborn photo session...
Well, some photographers prefer to photograph your baby on their first 15 days of life, and others will say that anytime during the first month is perfect.
My photo sessions can be done anytime in the first month! Everything is so new in the first weeks with a newborn, your body and mind are going through a lot of changes, you are still getting into a routine at home, and your baby is so, so little that you might not be ready to have visitors... so I believe the best time is when you are ready and usually the third and forth weeks work well.
I am Camila Lee, by the way, a newborn and family photographer in Ireland, I travel to my clients' homes (or to places they love) all around Dublin, Meath, Louth, Kildare, Wicklow and sometimes even further and I love natural family photos that tell a real story.
These are some of my favourite newborn photos, I always try and make my sessions fun and my clients comfortable with my camera so I can get nice candid shots. I like to recreate a little bit of my client's new routine with their little bundle of joy and keep posing and smiling at my camera to a minimum. But here is a good tip for you: if you do love a specific photo you saw on Pinterest or want that photo of everybody looking and smiling at the camera, always let your photographer know ;)
Finally, if you are wondering how much does a newborn session cost, it's important to understand that every photographer prices their work differently, in Dublin a professional photographer charges from about €300 to €2500, depending on the duration of the photoshoot, the products and number of photos you get, most photographers offer digital images, prints, albums, canvases and framed photos and you can choose the products that suit you.
So, no matter what your budget is, be sure to have a newborn photo session! You will blink and your baby's tiny feet will be running around and you will miss those first days so much.
